KeNHA announces temporary closure of Uhuru Highway for 10 days

According to KeNHA, the road will close to make room for the construction of a pedestrian tunnel connecting the University of Nairobi Main Campus and the Chiromo Campus.
The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a public notice regarding the temporary closure of a section of the Uhuru Highway. The affected area spans between Hotel Boulevard and the University of Nairobi roundabout (Mombasa Bound).
KeNHA stated that the closure will be in effect from 11.59 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2024, until 11.59 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024. This closure is essential to facilitate the construction of a pedestrian tunnel connecting the University of Nairobi Main Campus and the Chiromo Campus.

"The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that there will be a temporary closure of Uhuru Highway (A8) between Hotel Boulevard and the University of Nairobi roundabout (Mombasa Bound) from 11.59 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2024, to 11.59 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024," KeNHA said.
We advise motorists intending to access Uhuru Highway from Westlands and Thika Road to use alternative routes during this period. The KeNHA recommends Harry Thuku Road, University Way, Prof. Wangari Mathai Road, and Kipande Road as viable alternatives.
Authorities urge motorists to adhere to traffic signs and guidance provided by the police and traffic marshals on site for smooth traffic flow and safety.
Additionally, KeNHA disclosed that other sections of Uhuru Highway, between the Bunyala roundabout and Haile Selassie Avenue roundabout, as well as between the Harambee Avenue exit and Haile Selassie roundabout, will also experience temporary closures for the installation of service ducts.
